The Elham Valley Vineyard is the location for one of the homes, Valley House, and for many of the Fifth Trust Day Centres activities including the Pottery studio and the Woodwork workshop.
The small vineyard originally planted in the late 1980’s has recently been replanted with new stock of three different grape varieties. Residents and students at the Day Centre help to keep the grounds in good condition and, under supervision, tend the vines throughout the growing season. It is hoped that sufficient volumes will be harvested in 2014 to re-start making wine.
The Vineyard is also home to a traditional Tea Shop (see the link for more details) open to the public and staffed by residents and students which provides opportunities to obtain catering skills and to increase social skills whilst serving customers.
An exciting new addition since September 2010, is a large commercial Plant and Garden Centre, again serving the public with the help of students and residents. Please visit the separate website for more information.
