Bridge House Care Home in Barham Canterbury, Kent

Bridge House, Barham

Bridge House is a large, detached, family home situated in an elevated position in an area of outstanding natural beauty at Barham, Kent.  The House itself stands in a mature garden of half an acre. The city of Canterbury and the coastal town of Folkestone are both within easy reach, providing educational and leisure opportunities, libraries, theatres, cinemas and shopping outlets.

Bridge House, which has a warm, welcoming, friendly atmosphere, was opened in 1994 and is home for eight people with moderate learning disabilities.  Each resident has their own bedroom with en-suite facilities, and enjoys the spacious lounge, dining room and kitchen.

With staff support, the residents are encouraged to lead active and fulfilling lifestyles.  They are involved in all aspects of running the home, have responsibility for ensuring their own rooms and, on a rota basis, the communal living areas are kept clean and tidy.  They choose their own menus, and cook and participate in the weekly shopping.  They also enjoy a full and varied social life within the wider community, which includes visits to the cinema, theatre, local fetes and activities.  In addition, they take part in sporting activities such as visits to the gym, bowling and swimming.
