Work for the Fifth Trust Charity and care for adults with learning difficulties, become a resident or join a Day Care Centre

Vacancy Application Deadline: June 30, 2020

At the fifth Trust work centre we appreciate all the voluntary assistance we receive. Those who volunteer make a big difference to the way the centre operates. At times enabling trips or outings, which would not go ahead without their help. Or sessions in one of our options including more students, than would normally be the case. The volunteers make a big difference to our student’s daily life at the centre.
Volunteers may choose to work in just one of our sessions. Or they may choose to work in several for variation. Some chose to work in a single area because they can offer experience and special skills to a session. Some volunteers work for half a day whilst others work a full day or more than one day a week. Every bit helps no matter how big or small.
A number of our volunteers have used the centre to gain experience prior to embarking in a career in adult nursing, social work, teaching or care. Nearly all have found working with us rewarding and enjoyable.
We are always keen to hear from those who wish to volunteer. We can offer a taster day so you will be sure that you will be happy with us. All volunteers will enquire CRB clearance.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or would like more information on volunteering please use the ‘contact us’ page to email or call us.
I was placed here at the day centre and vineyard for my learning disabilities placement on my adult nursing course. I had no idea what to expect from a day centre and the activities they offered or the kinds of people that I would encounter while here. From the first morning I was made to feel very welcome by all of the students especially, they made sure I knew what I was doing and where I was going and really looked after me while I was getting my bearings. It didn’t take long to get used to the centre and all of the students who I quickly started to get to know.
The activities I have had the chance to be involved in with the students have been quite relaxing and fun for myself also. There are so many things to do here such as craft, art, media, horticulture, cooking, music, woodwork, pottery and tea shop which I have really enjoyed being a part of and learnt new skills for myself.
Working here with the students and staff has given me a new outlook on how these centres work, I think they are so worth while and I look forward to coming in every day.

I have been volunteering at the Fifth Trust Work Centre for several weeks and I have had a wonderful experience here. The general atmosphere is very relaxing and friendly. This place provides various activities which are very much enjoyed by everybody. The clients love coming here to socialise and enjoy all the interaction and activities they do with the staff. I value this opportunity immensely.
